Indy Women Creating Space // Meet Brittany Kincius

It’s time to share another fabulous Indy Woman Creating Space and if you don’t know her already, you will finish this post feeling like you have a new bestie (and maybe setting an alarm for 8:30 pm each evening - read on to find out why).

In late 2021, I was a Team of One and mentioned to a client that I was thinking of dipping my toe into having a team. Well, she knew exactly who that first addition needed to be. None other than her friend, Brittany Kincius.

From that first coffee meeting, I knew she would be such an asset to the team. Brittany brings such a high level of organization and skill, it is no surprise that she also runs an incredible business in her “spare time.” I can’t wait for you to get to know her better!

Who are you and what lights you up? Tell us your story, your mission, and what you’re building in Indy.

Hey! I'm Brittany and above all else, I am a lover of people. I use this love to create connection with all of my incredible The Baer Minimalist clients, but also to build my own small business. I’m the founder and lead planner/coordinator of The Wedding DOC Indy: a full service wedding planning and day-of coordination (DOC) company based right here in Indianapolis.

With nearly 8 years and 100+ events worth of experience, what lights me up most is helping couples feel calm, confident, and genuinely joyful as they walk into one of the most meaningful days of their lives. My story started with a deep love for organization, logistics, and connection. I saw how overwhelming wedding planning could be while planning my own, and I knew I wanted to create a company that offered both expert guidance and emotional support to couples looking for a planning experience as dreamy as their big day itself.

What I’m seeking to build in Indy is more than just an event planning company; it’s a trusted resource, a creative partner, and a calm presence in the middle of one of life’s biggest milestones. Indianapolis has such a vibrant, diverse wedding community, and I’m proud to be part of it. I have found so much joy in collaborating with dozens of local vendors, supporting small businesses, and helping couples create unforgettable celebrations right down the street from where I'm raising my own family.

What values anchor the work you do?

Confidence, Creativity, Communication, and Clarity

Give us a peek into your space! Share what makes a particular space in your home or workplace feel utterly and totally "YOU."

One of my favorite things about being a business owner is how much of a chameleon I get to be. I might be negotiating contracts in the morning and designing grand entrance inspo boards at lunch. My workspace reflects that ever-changing nature. The entire business (or the infrastructure, at least) has been built at my kitchen table. The same table where my kids tell me about their school days and my husband and I dream about the flower farm we might one day "retire" to. Although it's not a real office, the true hard work happens at dozens of event venues all over the city.

Your go-to tip: What organization, mindset, or workflow trick has been a game-changer?

Keep. It. Simple. It is so easy to "free-trial" your way into relying on 15 different programs or apps to run a business. I have learned over the years that a really REALLY good spreadsheet can be one heck of a workhorse. Also, the notes app on my phone is my saving grace. The second I have an idea or thought I want to explore later, I add it to my "Full Life List". I have an alarm that goes off at 8:30pm every day that reminds me to glance back through that list & pick 1-2 things I can then vision out a little more. The rest of those ideas are then just sitting there like little seeds waiting for their turn in the sun.

Your Indy List: What 3 local businesses do you love, support, and want to shout from the rooftops?

Amelia's Bakery - There was a time when I should've paid rent at the Windsor Park Location.

Tinker House Events - The team over there has been so incredibly generous with their space, their time, their knowledge, and their love. I never would have trusted myself to really go for it in the event world without their constant cheerleading.

The Public Library - The amount of business training I have checked off those shelves has saved me tens of thousands of dollars at this point. Support your local libraries, folks.

Anything else you'd love to share that captures your personality or your journey.

I will never EVER be too busy to stop and smell fresh flowers. Wedding arrangements come in the door, and my face is immediately in the roses. It makes people laugh every time, but it's one of my favorite moments on wedding days. My daughters even do it now. Every bouquet gets a sniff!

Who are a few Indianapolis women who inspire you?

Christina Martin, Andrea Hunley, Rebecca Gibron, Kristin Kohn, Maria Baer ; )

Reading Brittany’s story makes me realize I need to stop and smell the roses a bit more often.

I can say that Brittany never stops hustling and we are so thankful for her dedication to TBM clients, but also love cheering her on as she builds her DOC empire. We can’t wait to continue introducing you to some of our Indy favorites in the weeks to come, but first check out our other Signature Series posts with Christie Congdon and Maura Malloy here.
