Indy Women Creating Space // Meet Kristin Patrick
I had the absolute privilege of connecting with today’s guest, Kristin Patrick, after sitting down with Jona Wells on the Indy Women Who Inspire podcast. When we wrapped recording, Jona handed me a delicious bottle of N/A Bubbles from Orangily as a thank you gift. And with one sip, I just knew I needed to get to know Kristin, who co-owns Orangily, a wellness bottle shop with locations in Indianapolis and Carmel, with her sister, Andee Simpson. Hear their founder story here.
And boy, could we chat and laugh all day. With a Masters in Library Science, an affection for organization and instructional design, and a passion for lifting women up, I found a kindred spirit. She also introduced me to MOTW in Carmel where I fell in love with their Spanish Latte. A true treat.
Who are you and what lights you up? Tell us your story, your mission, and what you’re building in Indy.
My sister, Andrea Simpson, and I launched the Orangily Wellness brand in summer of 2022. Our mission is to disrupt the narrative that alcohol is needed to celebrate, relax, or network in Central Indiana.
What values anchor the work you do?
Orangily’s core values are wellness, inclusion, curiosity, and privacy. They are my values too!
Give us a peek into your space! Share what makes a particular space in your home or workplace feel utterly and totally "YOU."
There are four gallery walls in my house! All with unique pieces of art I've collected from arts fairs and independent retail shops.
Your go-to tip: What organization, mindset, or workflow trick has been a game-changer?
Stop collecting books! Books are meant to read, not to sit on a shelf! When I read something I think someone will enjoy, I give them the book and tell them explicitly to not give it back. If you have lots of books to you no longer want, consider donating to your public library bookstore. Also, if you have books that lack cover appeal or are out of date, throw them away! It's just paper.
Your Indy List: What 3 local businesses do you love, support, and want to shout from the rooftops?
My husband and I eat at Tre Mori in Fishers at least a couple times a month. The food is outstanding and the service is wonderful. I love finding unique affordable clothes at Karisma boutique in Noblesville. I'm also a huge fan of Bar Ellis next door to Karisma. Co-owner Lisa Wampler keeps her zero-proof menu fun and fresh. No kiddie cocktails!
Anything else you'd love to share that captures your personality or your journey.
For the past several years I've been on an inquiry into "what makes a great email newsletter?" They are so fun to build, and it feels amazing when we have data to show they are working. Subscribe at orangily.com
Who are a few Indianapolis women who inspire you?
Andrea Simpson (of course!), Kas Miller, Co-founder of Fundae's Ice Cream and Carli Sauer, Carmel Middle School Librarian.
Adding Tre Mori to my list of eats and doing a book edit this weekend to donate to some Little Free Libraries in town, in honor of Kristin’s motivating words above.
