Let's Tory Brunch | The Luxe Edit Launch

Nothing like a Tory Brunch to celebrate a very Luxe Launch!

Earlier this month, Style Riot and The Baer Minimalist launched our new joint service, affectionately called The Luxe Edit.

After finding ourselves in many of the same client closets, we wanted to create a custom package merging our brands for clients who are ready to revamp both their personal style and the closet that their clothing calls home.

Learn all of the fun details behind this service here: STYLE RIOT x THE BAER MINIMALIST.

No Spend January

Hi dear readers!

It is hard to believe that another year is wrapping up. And what a year it has been - both from a growth perspective with our business, but to the transformations we have witnessed in our clients homes, and all of the local organizations that we’ve been able to benefit with donations in the process of editing + organizing.

I’m certainly inspired to kick off the new year on a positive note and decided that I wanted to jump on board with a “No Spend” January, after seeing a few minimalist accounts share the challenge.

Well, after posting on Instagram, we now how a group of almost 90 members and I feel like this will certainly hold me accountable in the 31 days to come.

In true “organizer” fashion, I’ve put together an accountability guide/tracker for each of you. And if you’d like to join our group for additional inspiration and resources, just shoot @thebaerminimalist a message on Instagram.

Cheers to 2023! May it be your most organized year yet…and if you need a little help, we are just a phone consult away.

Brass Monkey | Decorators' Show House Recap

For the past 6 years, the St. Margaret’s Guild has produced the country’s longest running Decorators’ Show House & Gardens Event. It has been an annual tradition for my husband’s stepmom and me to walk through the doors and celebrate design within the Indianapolis community.

So imagine my delight when I was asked to participate this year, collaborating with Erin Moore from California Closets.

DONATION RESOURCE // Outreach Indiana

Who were your role models growing up? Maybe you looked up to your parents or grandparents, an aunt, a teacher, or maybe your neighbor down the street? I’m sure someone comes to mind for you, and you could probably tell me countless ways they’ve impacted how you live your life today.

Mary Voigt had some incredible role models growing up, sparking a passion to provide that same sense of support for others. She has been given the perfect opportunity to do so in her role as Communications Manager at Outreach Indiana, a local organization seeking to provide hope for youth and young adults experiencing homelessness. While Mary has been such a positive light, she has received more in return than she ever expected.

DONATION RESOURCE // Brides Against Breast Cancer

You go shopping for the perfect dress, look stunning on your big day, and then what? Likely you pack your wedding dress away to preserve it, maybe thinking your daughter will wear it one day. But nine times out of ten, daughters don’t wear their mother’s or grandmother’s gowns because they either don’t fit them or they are too outdated. We spend all of this time and energy preserving these gorgeous dresses just so they can take up space in our closets, never to be worn again.

What if there was a way to not only save space in our closets, but also make a powerful impact? Cue the lovely organization: Brides Against Breast Cancer. Founded in 1997, their mission is to provide early detection education while supporting breast cancer research efforts through their wedding dress donation program.

The Baer Minimalist's Party Prep Checklist

Planning ahead has always been my jam - dare I say, a hobby?! I’m always making lists so that I can feel like I’ve got it together and the holidays are certainly no exception.

I’ve been updating my online address book so that I’m ready to order my holiday cards on Cyber Monday (with pre-printed envelopes saving tons of time), creating a list of gift ideas for those lucky recipients in my life and of course, planning out the menus for the events we are hosting over the coming weeks.

One of my favorite resources to utilize for events is my Party Prep Checklist and I thought it was due time I shared it with you! If you subscribe to Haven, you’ve already got a hard copy at your disposal as it was featured in the November issue. (And if you don’t subscribe, what are you waiting for?!)

Why We Love What We Do | #foundHERs at Work

Remember last winter when I got together with my fellow #foundHERs and we shared some tips for getting organized around the holidays? Each month we tackle a new topic to get ideas and best practices flowing between our small businesses and it has been such a powerful group to be a part of.

These ladies all run incredible businesses, so if you are in need of a redesigned space (Polish Interior & Art Design), a painting to spruce up your space (Alicia Zanoni Art), a change in careers (Careerable), or an updated marketing plan or website (Kahunify), these women are my go-to gals.

So here we are, back at it again this month sharing our what makes us tick at work - from customer stories to the reasons we love what we do.

The Baer Minimalist's Wedding Registry Guide

I recently grabbed coffee with a bride-to-be who was struggling with putting together her wedding gift registry. She asked if I had any recommendations for what to buy and what might end up gathering dust, which got me thinking about what I would do differently if I were to register again (after almost nine years of marriage)!

Since you can add virtually anything to a registry these days thanks to Amazon and Zola, it is super easy to get overwhelmed. Stay true to who you are as a couple - if you like quiet nights at home, reconsider ordering 50 wine glasses. And vice versa, if you love hosting elegant dinner parties, go all out with crystal and china!

Don't forget that you can always borrow items from family and friends when entertaining if you are tight on storage space or happen to only need a certain item once a year.

My husband and I LOVE to entertain, but keep things pretty casual when we do. We didn't register for china or crystal, and I haven't regretted that decision a single day of our marriage.
